Apa's 21st summit

May 11.  At 10:30 last night Tenzing sent me a text message with the exciting news that Apa reached the summit for the 21st time— 9:15 AM Wednesday May 11th in Nepal.  Everyone at Diamond Mold is thrilled with the news, and extremely proud of Apa.  We are now holding our breath waiting to hear he’s safely back to base camp.  Tenzing thinks Apa will stop at camp 2 for the night, so it may still be another 24 hours before he’s back to base camp.
Brett Prettyman wrote a great article for the Salt Lake Tribune regarding Apa’s success: http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/news/51789082-78/apa-sherpa-everest-pool.html.csp

May 12.  Tenzing came in to work this morning and confirmed that his mom, Yangjin, talked with Apa around 5:00 AM and he’s at base camp.  This is a huge relief.  Apa has made it back down, he’s through the ice fall, and has 21 summits safely behind him.  Congratulations Apa!
